BKM Capital Partners Adds Capital Markets Leader to Multi-Tenant Industrial Platform
September 28, 2021 - Newport Beach, CA-based BKM Capital Partners has named Harry B. Hedison as Senior Managing Director of Capital Markets & Investor Relations. Hedison will also serve as a member of the firm’s Advisory Board, Investment Committee, and Management Committee. Hedison joins BKM with over 30 years of real estate experience and a proven track record of both domestic and international real estate capital raising.
Brian Malliet, CEO of BKM Capital Partners, said, “We are delighted to have Harry on board as part of the BKM team. His addition marks BKM’s first in-house, principal-level leader focused on raising capital and deepens our capabilities to reach institutional investors around the world. Harry’s broad investment management expertise, as well as real estate buy- and sell-side experience will be a significant contribution to the continued growth of the BKM platform and team, which recently reached a key milestone in the company’s maturation with the full realization of our first fund.”
In early September 2021, BKM Capital Partners fully realized its first institutional fund, BKM Industrial Value Fund I, which generated exceptional results and provides confirmation for its investment thesis. The portfolio recapitalization, in September, along with prior asset sales, delivered returns to Fund I investors that well exceeded the fund’s targets. Since its founding in 2013, BKM Capital Partners has amassed a diversified portfolio of multi-tenant, light industrial properties across the Western U.S. and has built an industry-leading operating platform around this emerging asset class.
Hedison’s primary responsibilities at BKM will encompass developing and implementing growth strategies to position BKM as one of the top industrial operators in the country; furthering relationships with institutional investors around the world; and delivering competitive offerings that drive growth and increase value.
Paul Dolinoy, on behalf of BKM’s Advisory Board, added, “We are proud to have someone of Harry’s caliber moving into this critical position at BKM. I’ve had the pleasure of working with Harry previously and would attest that his years of real estate investment experience as well as his deep understanding of our investment strategies and our niche asset class make him uniquely qualified for this role.”
Hedison comes to BKM from Mercury Capital Advisors LLC, where he was a Partner and Head of Real Estate Distribution. While at Mercury, he was involved in more than $20 billion of global real estate transactions. Hedison’s track record with Mercury included raising funds and other vehicles for a wide range of large and small cap domestic and international real estate operators and fund managers across a variety of strategies.
“I’m thrilled to be joining BKM and look forward to building upon the success of the firm. BKM has established itself as a leading operator in the multi-tenant small and mid-bay industrial space and has an exceptional track record of performance,” said Hedison. “Its technology, focus, and operational expertise is a differentiator, and we plan to grow the platform significantly as institutional investor interest in this sector continues to expand.”
Hedison began his real estate career with Morgan Stanley’s Real Estate Investment Banking Group and over time has held senior positions with firms that included LaSalle Advisors, Lend Lease Real Estate Investments, VEF Advisors, and Wachovia Securities’ Real Estate Investment Banking Group.
